Thank you to ILSC for the many homestay students they have sent to my home. It has been an absolute pleasure having students in my home. I tell every student that my home is their home for as long as they are here. I must say that every student that stayed with me has been an absolute credit, not only to the school (ILSC), but to their parents. The students treated my home and me with the greatest respect. I would love to continue hosting students; they are a pleasure to have in my home.

When I was a young woman, I traveled around the world for several years. Now I need to be a person who provides a fun, safe and comfortable homestay for students who are taking their own travel adventure. My favorite times are dinners with students from so many different parts of the world. By talking and sharing our experiences and insights, the world becomes both smaller and more interesting!

For the past 4 years I have had the pleasure of being the Canadian mother to people from all over the world. Being a home stay mom for ILSC has been a truly enriching experience for me and my daughter. Our home is filled with sights and sounds of other cultures. Whether it’s learning origami or ”boogying” at one of our international dance parties in the living room; our students have given us the gift of youthful energy and cultural diversity. My daughter no longer feels like an only child; as our dinner table is alive with conversation of the day; a time to practice English in a safe and supportive environment. I love to open my home and my DVD library to our students, introducing them to old movies from 70’s and 80’s!!!!!! The staff at ILSC’s homestay department is superb providing support to both students and home stay families in a professional and courteous manner. Being a home stay mom has given me the opportunity to meet some amazing people some of whom have become part of our international family, maintaining contact with emails and letters long after they go back to their home country. As I tell students, Mi Casa, Tu Casa (My House Is Your House)!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Becoming a ’Homestay’ is certainly the best decision we have made. So far we have hosted over 30 students ranging in age from 14 to 40. They have all been amazing! They arrive eager to learn English and it is a pleasure to watch their progress. We find them very brave and adventurous to leave their homes, families, and friends; so we try to make this a second home for them, safe and comfortable. They have all been very respectful and appreciative. Being from such diverse backgrounds and cultures, they have all been very interesting and quite entertaining. Without exception they have all spoken highly of ILSC. Just one drawback, when we have to say goodbye.

I am sending you herby our testimonial for your website. In the pictures you can see Jose Manuel, Pilar, Felipe, Alejandro and Manuela with George’s family in Germany. Receiving students from ILSC has been a wonderful experience for all of us. We have three children who have always found affinities with the young students coming from different countries. For us, as adults, the students are just like one more child in our home and we think that is the reason of our success. We love those students and we really want to give them good memories from Canada and from our family. We keep contact with most of our students because more than guests, they become our friends. For example, in our recent trip to Europe we spent a few days in one of our student’s home. As a result we have been invited to many countries because of our friendship. Hereby are two pictures of our stay in Germany in one of the student’s home and his family.

We are a mature couple who have traveled extensively and are well settled in Toronto, where we offer a nurturing and supportive environment to students. As a result of our travel to various lands we are sensitive and aware of the customs and cultural diversity of students who face many challenges during their stay in Toronto. We strive to provide a stimulating environment in which they can settle and in which they can excel in their studies. Through conversation and supportive interactions with students during their stay with us, lasting friendships have bloomed which have been both enriching and rewarding to our lives.

I have been a homestay host with ILSC for over 5 years. During that time I have had many students in my home from all over the world and have enjoyed them, while learning of other cultures and making many new friends I have found the International Language Schools homestay department to be helpful of student's needs, whatever they are and try to solve any problems they may have. The students themselves find they stay in Toronto, their studies at ILSC to be enjoyable and many say they would like to return to continue their studies. Some students after returning to their homes and their countries continue to keep in touch with me with by email with fond memories of their stay in my home. This is a very rewarding experience for me to be a homestay host and to help students of all ages learn the English language.

Claudio and I would like to express to ILSC how delighted we are to be associated with such a programme. It is so nice that we are able to enjoy the process so much because of ILSC’s professionalism. We have been hosts to international students for the past six years and the experience has been far beyond our expectation. By welcoming an international student into our home we have been able to help the student experience life in Canada by being part of a family. In return, the student shares information about their own family and what life is like in their country. By the end of their stay, I regard them as part of my extended family. When they return to their home country we continue to stay in touch by telephone and through e-mails on a regular basis. They have extended invitations to visit them in their country and I am told my ’room is ready and waiting.’ This has truly been a most rewarding and lasting experience.

In our opinion, ILSC has raised above many other International Languages Schools in Canada for their variety of programs offered and their dedication to the well being of the students, keeping close contact with them as well with the host families, resolving in a very effective and professional manner any arising issues concerning both parties. Hosting students is a very rewarding experience; it is a cultural experience; it is a cultural exchange for the students as well for host families. We are privileged to form part of ILSC host family’s team.

Just a little note to say thank you, I have been a host family since July 2001, and I enjoyed it very much. It has been very rewarding to meet such wonderful young and older people, form all over the word. I have a standing invitation, from 98% of my students to go visit them, any time.

I have learned many different cultures and yet we have very much in common, RESPECT, I feel that if you treat people with respect you will get the same in return, to host people that are here to learn about our country, brings back memories of when I came to Canada, and how I wanted to be welcomed in a strange country. If my children would have gone away to learn a different language, I would hope they would be welcomed the same way.
